The Office of Risk Management has three requirements of any and all individuals who will have contact with minors (even when online). The University updated their policy on the protection of minors, and those working directly with minors MUST BE trained and successfully complete a background check with Human Resources in the six months preceding the start date of the program.
Please note: The information you will receive will indicate the check includes a credit check, driving record check, etc. Your checks will NOT include those. The language is standard and those checks would only apply if you worked in a finance role or as a driver in those two examples. Areas that are included in the check include:
- criminal history record checks at the state and federal level
- sex offender registry, and
- child protective services checks at the state level.
Once submitted to Human Resources, you will receive an email from orders@pretrax.com that begins “Dear Candidate, thank you for your continued interest…”. There will be temporary login and password information within the email. Please follow the prompts to complete your end of the background check! This will need to be filled out within 24 hours of the email being sent. If you do not get this email within two business days please inform the Youth Programs Compliance Coordinator via email.
To initiate the required background check, do one of the following:
- If you have a NetID, log in and follow the prompts that say “Click here to consent to a background check” .
- If you do not have a NetID, email the Youth Programs Compliance Coordinator for the next steps.
